Description:
The 40602SA Certificate III in Police Studies is designed to provide students who may wish to prepare to apply for the following positions in all State, Territory or Federal Police organisations:
- Police Officer - except Qld
- Protective Service Officer
- Communication Operator
- Police Support Staff
Successful completion of the course does not guarantee recruitment. But will prepare you to the best of your ability to navigate your way through the selection process, and if successful, enter the academy with a higher level of knowledge and confidence.
Entry pathways:
Good level of English skills needed.
Study options:
Workshops: All students are welcome to attend one, some or all six Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney or Canberra Saturday workshops, or our Melbourne weekend workshops, all 9am-5pm and study the rest from home at your pace.
External: Study at your pace without attending workshops using our comprehensive online system and seven day a week support.
Study duration: College courses are very flexible and can be studied at each students pace depending on work, family and sporting commitments.
The average study time for this course is 16 weeks (approx 20 hours study per week) with a maximum completion time of 12 months for the busy student.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Option 1: $595 to accompany enrolment then $500 each month for three months. This payment plan option includes an additional administration fee of $100.
Option 2: $1000 to accompany enrolment then a 2nd payment of $995 on the 10th on the next month after the course commences.
Note: Enrolments cannot be processed until the first payment is received. All course fees include a $200 non-refundable administration fee.

This unit covers delivery and monitoring of service to clients that requires understanding of the needs of existing and new clients which influence service requirements. It includes identifying and defining client needs, delivering client services, monitoring and improving client service delivery and reviewing client service.
PADZ Apply key concepts in law and justice to policing in Australia
This unit introduces participants to key concepts in law and justice that are at the foundation of working in Policing. It provides participants seeking to become police officers with essential knowledge of the nature of law, the role of legal institutions and legal processes and the skills to apply that knowledge to policing.
NOTE: This unit will include all State, Territory and Federal examples for people who wish to enter policing throughout Australia.
PADY Apply ethics to issues in policing
This unit defines and describes the standards of ethical conduct. It includes understanding ethical standards, addresses a range of ethical issues and models and fosters integrity of conduct.
PAEA Apply knowledge of contemporary social issues for police in Australia
This unit covers the application of knowledge of contemporary social issues for police in Australia.
PSPGOV314A Contribute to conflict management
This unit covers the requirement to contribute to conflict management in the workplace between self and others, suchas staff or clients. It includes recognising the presence of conflict, dealing with emotions, overcoming barriers tocommunication, gathering the facts, agreeing on and implementing action. It does not include managing conflict between two other parties, formal negotiation, counselling or conducting mediation.

This unit covers the competency to contribute to a safe workplace for self and others. It includes contributing to workplace safety arrangements, identifying hazards and controlling risks.
BSBCMN306A Produce Business Documents
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to produce various business documents. It includes the skills and knowledge required to select and use a range of functions on a computer application.
PSPGOV312A Use workplace communication strategies
This unit covers the use of workplace communication strategies for interacting with internal and external clients. It includes responding to enquiries, receiving and giving directions, participating in meetings and making presentations in the workgroup. Though the prime focus of the unit is on speaking, listening and reading non-verbal cues, if reading, writing and visual literacy are intrinsic to the workplace communication these are included.
PSPGOV308B Work effectively with diversity
This unit covers the competency for individuals without supervisory responsibilities to work effectively with diversity. It includes recognising and valuing individual differences and working effectively with diverse clients and colleagues.
